Date Night

My boyfriend and I have a date night once a week. It usually consists of going out to dinner followed by seeing a movie. Typically when we go to dinner, it is a restaurant like Olive Garden or a sushi place. Somewhere nice where we like to dress up and spend time together. The past three weeks that we have gone out to eat the waiter or waitress always hands the bill to my boyfriend. Yes he pays but I still pay every once in a while to keep it fair. But the past few weeks I took it upon myself to pay because it was my turn. Every time, the waiter/ waitress gave my boyfriend the bill and I had to snatch it away.

Why is it that every single time the bill is handed to my boyfriend? Do they think I am incapable of paying a dinner bill? Do they think that the man should always pay? Why not set the bill in the middle of the table and then whoever pays can just take it. I do not understand why they have most waiters/waitresses have to be sexist and give the bill to the male of the relationship.

  1. Oh my gosh Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is so awkward taking the bill out of my boyfriend's hands while the waiter is standing there. We usually take turns paying for meals so this happens not a lot, but enough. One time it was really bad the waiter put it directly into my boyfriend's hand. As a result I feel like I'm emasculating him by removing it, the waiter feels like a dumbo for handing it directly to my boyfriend, and my boyfriend then feels pressured to pay.

  2. I totally agree! Like what is it when waiters just give it to the man? Seriously, does the man ALWAYS have to pay? uhm NOOO!! I always wonder that if the waiter/waitress puts the bill directly in front of the man of directly to him if that is how their relationship is like. If it is, that couple should take a woman studies class!! :)
